Transport planning

Birmingham 2022

Iventis was appointed by the Commonwealth Games Federation to provide venue transport mapping services for the Games.

The focus of the project was to provide maps showing the initial transport plans for every venue, for internal use and sharing with stakeholders.

Iventis set up the platform by importing CAD drawings for each venue and helping to set-up the key transport related layers.

Using the Iventis platform, the team was then able to develop and input their operational plans – both local to each venue and the wider area.

This included pedestrian and vehicle routes for each client group, the locations of security screening areas, transport load zones, accessible services and more.

By using the platform, the entire transport plans were available in a single location, easily accessible and ready to share with external partners.

Collaborative Approach

City of Edinburgh Council

The City of Edinburgh Council are using Iventis to plan a major one-off event in the city. This event does not have a dedicated or full-time team, and therefore requires a de-centralised, multi-agency approach.

Using the Iventis platform, every stakeholder can develop and view each other’s latest plans at any time. This ensures a more co-ordinated and collaborative approach to event planning.

As well as planning geographically, the event timings have been incorporated allowing for a day-by-day and hour-by-hour picture of the operations, which are continually refined.

Major Event Planning

Dubai Expo 2020

Dubai Expo 2020 is a major international event taking place over 6 months with 25 million visits expected. An entirely new venue has been built to host the event.

This complex event has a dedicated team of over 1,000 full-time staff and many more suppliers, contractors and partners. The team must work together to deliver a highly complex operation.

The Iventis platform has been used by the team for several years as it has grown. Every department has access and has developed their plans from transport systems and workforce to waste management.

The latest, detailed architectural drawings and satellite imagery have been used as a basis to develop plans.

The system has allowed the team to work more effectively together, provide insight and as a valuable collaborative tool together with stakeholders and suppliers.
